It's ridiculous - I don't even watch basketball - but a few years ago I filled out a bracket because it was all of the rage at both my work and in my house. I even entered money into a pot for one of my brackets! I picked the teams based off of research, mascots, colors, and locations (like any non-knowledgable participant in such a thing) - and surprisingly, I did pretty well.
I don't even think I've ever watched a game - now I just watch my bracket.
This year I heard about the billion dollar bracket and various potential million dollar brackets - and I didn't enter any, simply because I didn't want to sign up for some new service not applicable to me. (I'm just no where near a mortgage at this point...) I still filled out a bracket on ESPN and today is the exciting day where I get to watch and see which of my teams win and which lose.
Already there are upsets - one of which is Harvard winning against Cincinnati. I honestly almost picked Harvard and then said, "No, they are known for their brains..." yet here they win. Way to go smart young men!
Anyway, yes, ridiculous; yes, it's madness; yes, it makes me happy.
Why? The world may never know.
