Day 86: Replacing Memories

You know that time you were in that one place and that one terrible thing happened with that one person - and now anytime you hear that name, or think of that place (or month/holiday/etc), you can only think of the terrible thing?

I think we all have those...

I like to take those and make new memories - because those people, and that event, are not entitled to take ownership of certain places. I feel like the memory is terrible, so it does not deserve to continue its existence as dominant in our minds.

So tonight I returned to a space where I had an unpleasant experience with a friend - I returned with a different friend and under different circumstances (IT'S ST PATRICK'S DAY) and created a new, better, and more recent memory.  I reclaimed ownership of the space.

While old memories may not completely fade, they are all part of life.  The ups, the downs.  The sad times, the good times... it's life.  I just want the ups and the good to dominate, so reclaiming them only makes sense.  Otherwise what bad are we allowing to permeate our lives with our permission?

Also today... ST PATRICK'S DAY - because I'm 50% Irish.  It's my day.  Let the leprechauns loose.  Always.
