Day 85: Birds

When I was a child I remember thinking bird watchers were weird people, but as I get older I understand the appeal.  They are beautiful and sing beautifully.  As I've been back in Montana I've seen a fair number of birds hanging around the house and I just find them fun to watch.

Today I saw a blue bird much like this one:
The woodpecker that normally hangs around our house (and may even be building a nest under the porch?)
I frequently see bald eagles out hunting - sometimes two flying together, it's magnificent:
And then... there are always mallards, swans, and other types of ducks/geese around here but out on the lake where my family has a cabin, there are loons:

I mean, these four birds don't even begin to touch the surface for all of the wonderful things I see here on a regular basis - humming birds, pheasants, peacocks (weird?), turkeys, owls, chickadees, hawks, etc. They are just so neat.  Perhaps I SHOULD get into bird watching.  They just sound so wonderful, and look pretty.
